“There are many people who are taking part in the struggle for Telangana. Some of them are ‘part timers,’ some ‘full timers,’ but Professor Jayashankar was a ‘life timer,’ said Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday.
KCR was paying homage to Telangana ideologue Professor Jayashankar at a function held at Telangana Bhavan to mark the departed leader’s birth anniversary. Reminding that the late leader had devoted his entire life for the cause of Telangana, the TRS chief said that, “in any movement there are part timers and full timers but Prof Jayashankar was a ‘life timer’ for the Telangana movement. He worked till his last breath for the Telangana.”
The TRS president unveiled a bronze bust of Prof Jayashankar on this occasion and said that,
“the late leader lived a life for which we can say that “Jayashankar is Telangana and Telangana is Jayashankar. In his death we have lost a friend and philosopher and his death is a great loss for the movement and for him.”
KCR also added that, “whenever in trouble, he consoled us and gave us good advises, he gave us inspiration and courage to continue our fight.” Criticizing the statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in the Lok Sabha on Friday, the TRS chief wondered, “Is Mr Chidambaram not aware of Article 3 of the Constitution prepared by Dr Ambedkar?” He continued, “What is the use of the Constitution when it is being ignored?”
The TRS chief further said, “Mr Chidambaram has repeated the same old stories and there is nothing new in his speech of Friday. “ Lashing out at the Union Home Minister for saying that political parties in Andhra Pradesh should open their minds on the issue, KCR said that what is the use of referring the issue to the Centre.
“The issue was raised in the Parliament because the political parties in the state are not favouring the demand,” he pointed out.
