In the wake of extensive damage or losses suffered following the earlier 22-day old non-cooperation strike by the employees, the N Kiran Kumar Reddy government has once again activated the Group of Ministers, who would meet at the Lake View Guest House to thrash out a positive solution to reverse the decision of the Telangana staff leaders who threatened to go on an indefinite agitation from August 1.
The Group of Ministers will meet in a situation where the government has been cornered by the threat of the Telangana Joint Action Committee ultimatum and where the necessity to invoke Essential Services Maintenance Act is seen to be out of context. The Group of Ministers would be briefed by the authorities concerned to evolve a methodology to do away with the proposed stir. Earlier the TJAC leaders headed by TNGOs leader Swamy Goud and others were angry with the government for not implementing GO 610, deletion of Clause 14 F, filling up vacancies by Telangana staff among others. Now in the revised situation, Swamy Goud and company are firm on separate Telangana as the Kiran Kumar Reddy government has not heeded to the demands of Telangana leaders. The earlier 22-day old strike was called off following certain assurances given by the government. But contrary to the expectations of Swamy Goud and his deputies so far, the government did not spell out any steps to resolve their demands. It is in this backdrop that the current Group of Ministers are meeting today, assisted by senior IAS officers to effectively implement the demands, barring Telangana issue. Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha, Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, Finance Minisetr Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Labour Minister Danam Nagender and Marketing Minister Mukesh Goud, met at the Lake View Guest House at the initiative of the Chief Minister for resolving the demands of Telangana staff.
