Seemandhra Forum convener S Sailajanath on Monday stated that the Seemandhra leaders would meet Congress In-Charge of State Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad in New Delhi and press for keeping the state `united’.
Talking to media persons, Sailajanath said the Seemandhra leaders would present their views and stress the importance of keeping the state integrated. He said they would appeal him to adopt the Justice Srikrishna Committee recommendations before taking any decision on bifurcation of state. He said the Centre can adopt the sixth recommendation of Justice Srikrishna Committee, which clearly opposed the division of state. He said that regions development would be possible with the implementation of 6th option only. Ruling out disunity among Seemandra leaders, Eluru MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao said that Minister of state for Human Resources Development D Purandeswari, and Union Minister of State for Textiles Panabaka Laxmi did not attend the Seemandhra convention due to their busy schedule. However, Sambasiva Rao said the Union Ministers were in favour of united state only. “We have no differences among ourselves and working united for integrated state only,” he stated. He said that Seemandhra leaders will meet all core committee members and press for integrated state. Former endowment minister Gade Venkata Reddy appealed to those Telangana leaders, who are claiming their region lagged behind in development compared to Seemandhra, to visit Rayalaseema for seeing backwardness in their region. Stating division of state would create other problems, he reiterated the development of state was possible with integrated state only.
