Suspended Telugu Desam Party leader from Telangana Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday alleged that Hyderabad Police Commissioner AK Khan has violated the rights of elected people representatives by not allowing them to visit the venue of hunger fast staged by Osmania University students at Arts College in the campus.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Janardhan Reddy condemned the attitude of the city Police Chief in arresting the elected representatives who had tried to visit the students’ hunger fast camp without permission. He advised Mr Khan to change his attitude and stop arresting people’s representatives. The senior politician also questioned why Mr Khan was resorting to forcible arrests when the elected representatives wanted to visit the hunger fast camp of students in Osmania University and why permission was denied to them in the first place. Mr Janardhan Reddy further described Congress In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad statement that a unanimous resolution was necessary for the formation of separate Telangana state as `meaningless’ and `unfortunate’. He wondered what was the need of a unanimous resolution when the people are seeking the division of the state. “Why have the leaders have not sought opinion of people during the integration of state? Mr Janardhan Reddy questioned.
