Legislators who have resigned from their elected posts on Tuesday formed a 20-member Steering Committee to fight for the separate Telangana state.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly Media Point, Congress Action Committee for Telangana convenor and MLC Y Yadav Reddy stated that the Steering Committee has 20 members, including MPs, Ministers and Legislators. Mr Yadav Reddy revealed that the decision to form the Steering Committee was taken at MP G Vivek’s residence earlier in the day. “The Steering Committee will guide the Congress leaders from Telangana on the separate statehood agitation. It will take decisions on how to keep the separate statehood agitation intensified and future protests would also be decided by it,” the MLC said. He also revealed that the Steering Committee will be chaired by Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy and Rajya Sabha Member K Kesava Rao will be the co-chairman. Minister B Saraiah, MP Ponnam Prabhakar and MLA K Lakshma Reddy will act as conveners. MPs Rajaiah, G Sukender Reddy and MLA G Venkata Ramana Reddy will be the official spokespersons of the Steering Committee. Mr Yadav Reddy further revealed that all Ministers and All India Congress Committee secretary Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy would be the special invitees. He also stated that the venue of 48 hours hunger fast called by Telangana Congress at the Exhibition Grounds, Nampally from July 13 has been shifted to Indira Park due to some technicalities.
