Union Cabinet reshuffle 'wasteful exercise': TDP

Describing the reshuffle of the Union Cabinet led by Manmohan Singh led as a ‘Wasteful ‘exercise’, senior Telugu Desam Party leader P Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said that the move would not serve any purpose as the Prime Minister has failed to take action against Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Human Resources Minister Kapil Sibal, whose names figured in the 2G spectrum case.

Alleging that the Prime Minister was acting as remote control Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he dared Dr Manmohan Singh to sack the corrupt Ministers whose names, he alleged, figured in the 2G Spectrum allocation scam.

The 2G Spectrum allocation scam is believed to have caused a loss of Rs 1.75 lakh crore to National Exchequer.

Mr Chandrasekhar Rao said that he suspected if the Prime Minister can take decisions boldly and act against the corrupt Ministers.

Besides this, the TDP leader also criticised the reshuffle, saying that the state has once again got raw deal in the Union Cabinet expansion, despite sending a large number of MPs.

He alleged that the Centre deliberately ignored the state leaders and the development of state would be hindered with the very little representation in the Union Cabinet from the state.
