The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on Thursday announced that it has decided to postpone its protest programmes, Rail Roko earlier scheduled for July 8 and 9 and Vanta Varpu to be held on July 10 and has announced a meeting of all the Legislators who have submitted their resignations.
“The Tpjac has invited all the Legislators who resigned for the cause of Telangana to a meeting on July 9 and 10,” its convenor M Kodandaram revealed before media persons at the JAC office at MLA Quarters on Thursday. Hailing the resignations of the Legislators for the cause of Telangana statehood, Prof Kodandaram stated that the new dates for the Rail Roko and Vanta Varpu would be announced later. The Tpjac convenor added that the future course of action to be adopted for achieving the separate Telangana state would be chalked out at the meeting with Legislators who have resigned. He added that that JAC has decided to postpone the agitation programme-Rail Roko scheduled to be held on July 8-9 and Vanta Varpu on July 10, to in view of the meeting. However, the protest programmes set by the Telangana Congress and TDP Telangana Forum leaders could go ahead as scheduled, the Tpjac chief said. Prof Kodandaram also said that the JAC has invited all resigned leaders including Telugu Desam Party Telangana Forum members and Congress leaders from Telangana to this meeting. The Tpjac chief pointed out that the resignations by Telangana leaders has forced the Centre to respond on the statehood issue. Meanwhile Telangana Gazetted Officers association president Srinivas Goud said that the employees are planning to start a ‘non-cooperation agitation.’ He said that a decision on ‘non-cooperation’ agitation would be announced after discussing the modalities with Tpjac chairman Kodandaram. Mr Srinivas Goud reminded the media that the employees have already expressed solidarity to all those elected representatives who resigned for the cause of Telangana.
