All India Congress Committee General Secretary and party In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday appealed to Telangana leaders to reconsider their decision on resigning for the cause of statehood.
Talking to media persons, Mr Azad said that the Telangana state issue is linked to three regions of the state and the sentiments and emotions of the people living in these three regions. Describing the Telangana statehood issue as `sensitive’, the High Command’s representative repeated his earlier comments that the issue cannot be settled overnight. “It can only be resolved through the process of consultations with concerned regional leaders,” Mr Azad said. He advised the party Legislators from Telangana to reconsider their decision on resignations. The party incharge for the state also invited all Ministers from Telangana to a discussion on the issue in New Delhi. According to sources, a delegation led by Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy will head to New Delhi by Monday evening to hold discussions with Mr Azad and other top leaders of the High Command. Incidentally, a delegation of Seemandhra leaders, led by Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath is also scheduled to visit New Delhi and present the point of view of the pro-Integrated Andhra Pradesh camp before the High Command.
