There seems to be divergent views on Separate Telangana, and going by that standard, the July 4, resignation threat may not yield any results and it may at best draw huge media publicity.
Major Irrigation Minister P Sudharshan Reddy, who hails from Telangana ( Bodhan, Nizamabad district ) was refreshingly outspoken while interacting with media persons at the Secretariat on Saturday, saying that everyone had his own angle on the issue.
He was clarifying to a poser from the media persons that the issue of Telangana statehood has been kept pending.
Asked about his own resignation, the Minister replied in the affirmative. Mr Sudharshan Reddy said “I also follow suit and tender my resignation.”
Fielding another question on Union Health Minister and Congress In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad’s version, the Minister’s reply was non-committal.
He said “everyone has his own way of thinking.” In this context, he made clear that there were different angles to the ‘issue’ and different views expressed.
Asked about Telangana issue and that injustice that has been meted out to the region, Mr Sudharshan Reddy made a very specific and forthright reply, stating that he was not a Minister just for Telangana people but he was representing the whole of Andhra Pradesh.
Fielding another question, the Minister grew rather indignant the way the Telugu Desam Party leaders were making charges or blaming the Congress leaders and Ministers as a whole.
He shot back saying whether they (the TDP) would hold a ‘training camp’ for the Ministers. Mr Sudharshan Reddy blamed the TDP leaders, stating that they had no proper understanding on the subject.
Replying to queries about the action to be taken to resist the pressure from the High Command, Mr Sudharshan Reddy said “let us see.”
