Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday defended the statement issued by Nalgonda MP Komatireddy Rajagopal that Congress will bite the dust in Telangana region if it fails to take a favourable decision on the Telangana statehood demand.

Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, the PCC chief stated that Mr Komatireddy Rajagopal has expressed the sentiments of the people of the region on Telangana and he saw nothing wrong in the statement.

“Mr Rajagopal is representing the people of Nalgonda. He expressed their feelings,” Mr Satyanarayana said, adding that there was no fault in his statement.

The PCC chief further advised Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar and Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal not to air their views on the deletion of Clause F 14 of the Presidential Order of 1975 before media. “Doing so will damage the image of party and the MPs are advised not to air their views in public,” Mr Satyanarayana said.

He further asked the District Congress Committee presidents to submit a report on the party’s position in every Village, Mandal and District level to him.

Mr Satyanrayana also advised the DCC presidents to bring their problems to the notice of PCC Executive Committee.
