Describing it as a ‘Major Blow’ to the separate statehood movement, suspended Telugu Desam Party MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday expressed grief at the demise of Telangana ideologue Prof Kothapalli Jayashankar.
Talking media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Janardhan Reddy called on all Telangana leaders to unite and fulfil Prof Jayashankar’s dream, while stated that his death was great loss to the Telangana agitation. “Fulfilling his dream of a separate Telangana state would be a fitting tribute to late Prof Jayashankar,” appealed Mr Janardhan Reddy to the leaders from the region. Meanwhile, TDP MLA Harishwar Reddy said the Telangana region has lost a great leader with the passing away of the academician. Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana too expressed his condolences and shock at the death of Prof Jayashankar. He also expressed sympathies to the family members of the departed leader. Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Satyanarayana stated that Prof Jayashankar had played an active role in the formation of Telangana Rashtra Samithi and in the separate Telangana statehood movement. Addressing media persons at the Congress Legislature party office, Government Whip Kodra Murali said that Prof Jayashankar sacrificed his entire life for the cause of Telangana, right from his youth. Minister for Rural Development D Manikyavara Prasad Rao also expressed his grief over the death of Prof Jayashankar.
