Seeking cooperation from all concerned, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy on Monday said, “We are working as per the direction of the United Progressive Alliance over the Telangana issue.”

Talking to media persons at his chambers in the Secretariat, Mr Jana Reddy maintained that Telangana is a contentious and problematic issue which deserves to be tackled amicably.

“If the political parties give a proper and constructive opinion, the government would consider it,” the Minister stated, replying to a question that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was trying to blackmail the government by organising the Vanta Varpu programme.

“In a democratic set-up, parties have the right to express their protest and opinion and the government would play its part well to the address the problem,” he said.

The separate statehood for Telangana was the choice of all and the problem should be addressed amicably, Mr Jana Reddy stated in reply to another question.

The Minister requested the parties to ‘help’ the state government achieve Telangana.

How to help would be made known as per the context and situation arising and called for a discussion over it.
