As part of their efforts to keep the state integrated, Congress leaders from Seemandhra regions on Monday said that a delegation would soon visit New Delhi to persuade the High Command not to be swayed into agreeing for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Minister for Primary Education S Sailajanath said that the delegation would go to New Delhi to convey the opinion of the Seemandhra people on controversial issue of bifurcation of the state to the Congress High Command.

The delegation would also urge the High Command to solve the burning issue of Telangana statehood demand on priority basis. Mr Sailajanath added that the Seemandhra leaders want the Telangana issue to be solved as the delaying a decision is hampering the progress of the state.

“A delegation of Seemandhra leaders will go to New Delhi soon to present their views to the High Command,” the Minister stated. Stating that he was in favour of keeping the state integrated, the Minister hailed the Telangana leaders for organising the Vanta Varpu programme on Sunday in a peaceful manner.

Mr Sailajanath appealed to all leaders to be patient until the High Command announces a clear decision on the separate statehood demand. He appealed to the leaders to maintain their cool and respect the decision of Centre on Telangana.
