Nagam to extend full support to TPJAC

Vowing to extend his full support and cooperation to all programmes organised by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee, suspended Telugu Desam Party leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Sunday called for a united and concerted push for a separate state.

Mr Janardhan Reddy’s words of extending support to the TPJAC were more or less on expected lines after he was suspended from the TDP and has been pushing the separate statehood agenda by himself. He was once part of the TDP’s decision to part ways with the TPJAC.

The suspended TDP MLA called on all the leaders of Telangana to cast aside their party agenda and support any agitational programme launched by the body to spearhead the separate statehood movement.

Talking to media persons after taking part in the Vanta Varpu programme at Gun Park, organised by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee across the state capital to push the Centre to introduce Telangana Bill in Parliament, Mr Janardhan Reddy said that Telangana leaders should unite and mount pressure on the Centre by resigning from their posts.

“Telangana can be only achieved with united and concerted efforts. The people of region will not forgive the Telangana leaders if they fail to fulfil their aspirations,” he said.

Mr Janardhan Reddy also called on the Telugu Desam Party Telangana Forum members to demand party president N Chandrababu Naidu to write a letter to Centre, stating that he has no objections if a separate Telangana is formed. “They must force Mr Naidu to write such a letter if they have any commitment towards separate statehood,” he stated.  

Condemning the statement of Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal that parties from Seemandhra will get more than 245 seats if the elections to Assembly were held on the issue of bifurcation, Mr Janardhan Reddy advised him to measure his words carefully before speaking.

He said the people of Telangana would not allow Mr Rajagopal to visit the region if he makes such provocative statements. “Lagadapati statements are hurting the sentiments of the region’s people. The statements would invite public wrath and create law and order problems in the region,” Mr Janardhan Reddy stated.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Rajeswara Rao, Bandaru Dattatreya besides leaders of New Democracy G Govardhan and Suryam were present.
