‘Advising’ Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao not to allow himself branded as a ‘Telangana Traitor, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday said that any move by the city police to obstruct its Vanta Varpu would automatically put him in the ‘anti-Telangana’ bracket.

Speaking to media persons at the Telangana Bhavan, Siddipet MLA Harish Rao urged Mr Aravinda Rao to direct City Police Commissioner AK Khan to ensure that there are no obstacles to the Vanta Varpu.

The Vanta Varpu would see the TRS activist cook and eat on the roads, blocking traffic as part of its agitation to push for a separate Telangana state.

Mr Harish Rao further alleged that Commissioner AK Khan was trying his best to put obstacles in the party’s Vanta Varpu and told the Dgp to order the city police chief to restrain himself.

The TRS leader reminded Mr Aravinda Rao that he has about 15 days of service left, before he retires. “Do not be branded as a Telangana Traitor by obstructing the Vanta Varpu. Let you service record remain unblemished by this tag,” Mr Harish Rao urged the Dgp.

He further reminded Mr Aravinda Rao that the police had tried its best to thwart the Million March, taken out on March 10, 2011, but had failed.

“If you try to put obstacles in the Vanta Varpu, it will be another ‘Million March.’ You cannot suppress the people’s agitation nor their sentiment,” Mr Harish Rao said.

The TRS MLA further told the Congress leaders from Telangana to stop their ‘drama’ and resign from their posts. “We will support you. The people will vote for you, you do not have to worry about getting re-elected,” he said.

He further said that if the Congress leaders do not resign, the Vanta Varpu will be organised in front of the residences of the Congress leaders of Telangana.

Mr Harish Rao further disclosed that Telangana engineers in the Irrigation Department were suffering and a file pertaining to their promotions was gathering dust in the Chief Minister’s Office since the past 45 days. “We met the Chief Minister twice on this issue, but nothing has been done. We urge Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy to direct the concerned Minister to immediately take action or resign immediately,” the TRS leader said.

He further alleged that Minister Vishwaroop is trying to get GO 91, pertaining to promotions of Civil Surgeons, withdrawn. “We will not keep quiet if the GO is withdrawn,” Mr Harish Rao warned.
