Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud on Friday accused an unnamed section of Congress leaders from Telangana of obstructing the formation of a separate state.
Talking to media persons here, the MP said that this section of Congress leaders believes that the separate statehood demand will die down without Telangana being formed.
“However, the people of Telangana will never let their guard down and will not be satisfied with anything but a separate state. They will teach a fitting lesson to the traitors of Telangana,” Mr Yaskhi Goud said.
Responding to questions about his opinion on the Centre’s stand on the separate statehood demand, the Nizamabad MP said that the High Command favoured bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
“The high command wants to address the Telangana issue on priority basis,” he emphatically stated.
“The Centre is aware of the sentiments and aspirations of the Telangana people for separate state. It is aware of their tone and tenor,” Mr Yaskhi Goud said.
However, the High Command has so far not given any concrete assurance over the formation of Telangana, he admitted.
He expressed confidence that the High Command would take a favourable decision without hurting the sentiments of Seemandhra and Telangana people.
