Alleging that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has received kickbacks from the seed companies to hike the prices of seed, the YSR Congress Party on Friday said that it cannot remain a mute spectator while the farmers’ problems mount.

YSR Congress Party official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said that the party would protest against the state government indifferent attitude in redressing the farmers’ woes by picketing the district Collectorates across the state on June 13.

“The state government has conspired with the companies producing the seeds to hike the prices. We will not remain quiet. Our party has decided to picket the district Collectorates on June 13 from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM across the state to highlight the farmers’ issues,” Mr Rambabu told media persons at Sagar Society.

He further alleged that the Chief Minister has received kickbacks from seeds producing companies for increasing the prices of seeds. “The government has conspired with seed producing companies and allowed an indiscriminate hike in the prices of seeds, without bothering about the farmers’ interests,” Mr Rambabu alleged.

The YSR Congress Party leader further added, “Though former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had stood for farmers’ welfare, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has adopted anti-farmers’ policies.”

Mr Rambabu further said that, “Unable to face the Local Body elections, the government is trying to defer facing the voters by promulgating an Ordinance.”

He added, “the government is trying to find a way to defer the Local Body elections and they are taking the Backward Classes quota as an excuse.”

The meeting was attended by Gattu Ramachandra rao and Raghurami Reddy.
