Telugu Desam Telangana Legislators Forum convenor Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Thursday stated that the survival of Telugu Desam Party in Telangana region depends on whether it stands by the resolution adopted by the party in 2008. Talking to media persons after attending a crucial party politburo meeting at NTR Trust Bhavan, the senior TDP leader from Telangana revealed that he had urged TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to send a copy of the resolution adopted by the party to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
Mr Janardhan Reddy also disclosed that he had urged Mr Naidu to make efforts to establish the Telangana Coordination Committee with party members from Telangana region so that the separate statehood issue could be coordinated. He said that he had asked Naidu to make efforts towards forming the separate state by organizing meetings and discussions with Telangana leaders.
Sources say that Mr Janardhan Reddy was questioned by the politburo members about the absence of the TDP flag at his recently held Sadhana Yatra at Nagarkurnool. He replied that the Sadhana Yatra was an efforts to bring the disparate groups fighting for a separate Telangana state on a single platform and was not directed against the TDP, nor was it an attempt to project it as a party affair. He reportedly told the TDP chief that the party must be more proactive in pushing the separate Telangana issue so that the party flag can fly high.
However, this was not revealed by Mr Janardhan Reddy during his interaction with the media. He did say that the Sadhana Yatra was not against the TDP but was organized only with the intention of extending support to Telangana agitation. “I have not indulged in anti-party activity,” he stated.
Reacting on Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor Kodandaram’s comments that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi will not believe him till he quits the TDP, Mr Janardhan Reddy said that by these words, Prof Kodandaram was acting like an agent of the TRS. “There is no need to quit TDP. I will continue my fight for Telangana by staying in the party,” he categorically stated.
