Telugu Desam Party MLAs Motkupalli Narasimhulu, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao and P Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday stated that the credit for commercialization of politics should go to YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
Talking to media persons NTR Trust Bhavan, the TDP MLAs alleged that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has turned politics into a business instead of a desire to serve the people.
“Politics as practiced by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is limited to a means for earning money. Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has proved this with the submission of false affidavits to the Election Commission,” the TDP MLAs said.
“In 2009 elections, he showed Rs 77.39 crore as his income and in 2011 elections, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has shown Rs 445 crore as income. What is the secret behind his multiplying of income six times within a span of two years,” they questioned.
Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has fixed the rate for everything and wants to buy every item with money without serving the people, the TDP MLAs alleged.
They continued, “Even after the country achieving Independence, the people in both Kadapa and Pulivendula constituencies have no freedom to elect their leader.”
The MLAs appealed to the Election Commission to take fool-proof measures to conduct the by-elections in a free and fair manner.
They also called upon people to enfranchise their votes in a fair manner without being lured by money or any other means.
