Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Daggubati Purandareswari on Wednesday said that YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy was making ‘outlandish’ statements while campaigning for the by-elections to the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of her campaign for Congress candidate DL Ravindra Reddy, Ms Purandareswari said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has made some highly objectionable remarks like saying that the by-polls is a contest between former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s popularity and Congress president Sonia Gandhi. “Such statements have no meaning,” the MoS said.
Ms Purandareswari added that Dr Rajasekhara Reddy was ‘totally’ loyal to the Congress and had never defied the High Command’s orders anytime. Because of his loyalty, the High Command groomed his political career and gave him the Chief Minister’s post, she said.
She added that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy aspired to become the Chief Minister of the state and had quit the Congress for self-interest and thus necessitated the polls.
“Perhaps his fear of losing the by-polls is making him issue such meaningless statements against Ms Sonia Gandhi,” Ms Purandareswari said.
She added that the people of the constituency will vote for the Congress candidates and extend support to Ms Sonia Gandhi for her leadership skills.
The MoS said that the development of Pulivendula constituency was only possible with the Congress and appealed to people to vote for Congress candidate YS Vivekananda Reddy.
“The development of Pulivendula is possible with the victory of Congress candidate YS Vivekananda Reddy,” Ms Purandareswari said.
