Pradesh Congress Committee official spokespersons B Kamalakar Rao and Padmaja Reddy on Monday dared party MLAs who are indirectly campaigning in the by-elections in favour of YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy to come out in the open and canvass against the Congress.

Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, the spokespersons stated that some Congress MLAs ‘are shamelessly campaigning against the party indirectly.’

The spokespersons said that “these MLAs lack courage and hence they are doing so indirectly. They must come out in the open and campaign for Mr Jaganmohan Reddy directly, instead of resorting to such means. They are aware that the High Command is keeping an eye on their activities and action will be taken against them after the by-polls are completed.”

“These MLAs are slinging mud and leveling baseless allegations against the ruling party. This is shameless. They must come out in the open. If they are against the Congress, they must support whoever they want to, openly,” the Congress leaders said.

“The High Command will not spare anybody, who supports Mr Jaganmohan Reddy. The party will initiate stern action against these MLAs for their anti-party activities,” they pointed out.

The Congress spokesperson also alleged that the Jagan group was resorting to attacks against other parties. “Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is acting like a dictator, and is not allowing anyone to campaign against him. He is afraid of defeat in the by-elections and hence his men are resorting to attacks and pelting stones on other party leaders,” the Congress alleged.

The party spokespersons also condemned the attack on Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi during the road shows in Kadapa. “The people of Kadapa will teach Mr Jaganmohan Reddy a fitting lesson at the time of voting,” the Congress said.

“The voters will reject YSR Congress Party in the elections due to Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s involvement in large-scale corruption,” the spokespersons stated.
