Pahelwan arrested, claims his men acted in self defense

Suspected mastermind behind the attack on Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, Mohammed Pahelwan, has been arrested in the city on Saturday.

The Pahelwan, along with three of his associates, was arrested at the Yashoda Hospital at Malakpet when he went to visit the two injured persons who allegedly participated in the attack on the MIM MLAs and are undergoing treatment there.

Mohammed Pahelwan had earlier told the media that his men were innocent and had fired on the MIM Legislators in self defense. He also said that the MIM MLA Ahmed Balala’s gunman had opened fire, leaving his men no choice but to retaliate.

He also stated that he was not present at the spot when the attack took place near the Marhaba Hotel in Chandrayngutta at around 11:15 AM.

Mohammed Pahelwan also said that his nephew, Ibrahim bin Younus Yafai had been killed when he was trying to run away from the firing by Mr Balala’s gunman.

The prime accused in the sensational case also claimed that he was the real owner of the disputed land besides the Owaisi Hospital and had been in its possession since the past 70 years. He also said that he had the necessary documents to back his claim.

The dispute arose when Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi tried to include his land in the government land, he said.
