Linking the withdrawal of his 1+1 security to an attempt to infringe on the rights of SCs and STs, former minister M Mareppa said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will have to face a severe backlash from the community if the government did not mend its ways.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, the former minister alleged the Chief Minister of being biased against him as he belonged to the Scheduled Castes community and that was the reason behind the withdrawal of his security.

“Right from the time former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy passed away, the state government has been acting against the interests of the SCs and STs. Even the Cabinet is dominated by members of the Reddy community. The situation has turned worse from the time Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy took charge as the Chief Minister,” the former Congress minister said.

Mr Mareppa said that the decision to withdraw his security was an insult to the community and threatened to fight till it was not restored.

He alleged that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government has neglected the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities and did not implement schemes for their welfare.

The former minister revealed that he had even lodged a complaint with Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao and Intelligence Wing Inspector General Mahender Reddy. “The Home Minister had assured me that she would look into the issue after discussing with officials concerned, but my security was still withdrawn,” he said.
