Telangana Rashtra Samithi Floor Leader in the Assembly Etela Rajender on Tuesday accused both the ruling and opposition parties who have fielded candidates for the by-elections in Kadapa district of resorting to distributing money and liquor to lure voters.
Talking to media persons here, the TRS leader alleged that both the ruling Congress party and Opposition Telugu Desam Party were trying to influence voters of Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies by distributing money and liquor.
“The Congress and the TDP are apprehensive that their candidates would lose the by-elections and are resorting to dubious methods and flouting the rules and regulations of democracy. This is a gross violation of ethics and the Election Code,” Mr Rajender said.
Incidentally, the TRS leader had earlier branded leaders from Telangana who campaigned for their respective party candidates in the Kadapa district as ‘Telangana traitors.’
Mr Rajender however on Tuesday said that he hoped the people of the constituencies for which the by-elections are being held would vote for those candidates who protect democratic principles and look into people’s problems.
The TRS leader also demanded that the Centre disclose the contents of the eighth chapter of Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report on the separate Telangana statehood issue.
Condemning the alleged irregularities in the NTR Health University, Mr Rajender demanded that the state government establish a branch of the varsity in Hyderabad to protect the interests of Telangana students.
