This is another mass contact programme like Rachcha Banda for providing solutions to the citizens, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy told district Collectors through a video conference from the state Secretariat on Friday.

The Chief Minister issued clear instructions to the district administration to complete all the scheduled works even before the cited yatra was undertaken. The officers were told to prepare and plan well ahead of the said yatra.

To achieve better results the officers were told to have perfect coordination.

The government has decided to provide more than seven hours power supply to the farmers and as part of this programme, the district administration is expected to coordinate well, checking and replacing the transformers every fortnight.

The officers were told to take feedback from the farmers in this regard as also to coordinate with the Legislators concerned to provide better supply of power.

The Chief Minister also instructed the Collectors to check any loopholes in the supply process. He said it was their responsibility to see that a revolving stock of transformers is maintained in order to facilitate regular flow of power supply even while keeping the substations in order.

Similarly, drinking water supply particularly during the summer should be provided to the needy in the villages. The officers concerned should prepare contingency plans in advance to solve the water problems, the Chief Minister instructed. He added that Rs 52 crore has already been released for all the districts.

He further added that for the urban centres, Rs 42 crore has been released. Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the officers that they must plan how they could proceed towards supply of drinking water. The officers were told to keep in view the transportation facility to address the problem.

The government has also concentrated on developing the vast stretches of lands belonging to the SC and ST farmers and towards this direction the government would be releasing Rs 4675 crore to develop as much as 11 lakh acres of their land in a span of three years.

Efforts should be made to provide a minimum of 65 days of work to the SC and ST people under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the Collectors were told.

The government stressed the need to prevent migration of people from the rural side to the towns. For this the officers were instructed to work out plans like educating the poor to stay back and provide them any alternative mechanism to continue in the local areas.

The Chief Minister directed the Taluq level officers to be vigilant and take action and remedial measures to stop migrations. The officers were also directed to take preventive steps to check the spread of certain diseases in the tribal areas. Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy named Adilabad and Visakhapatnam districts wherein the officers were told to check the diseases.
