Talking to media persons after inaugurating a new wing at District Cooperative Central Bank in the district, the Minister stated that the government was taking all possible measures for the welfare of the farmers, despite financial constraints.

Mr Ramnarayana Reddy said that the new godowns and cold storage plants will give a huge boost to the farmers of the region and contain farm losses. He said that the proposed godowns and cold storage plants are part of the government’s commitment to the welfare of the farmers.

The Finance Minister said that earlier governments in succession had failed to initiate steps to contain farm losses but the present regime was steadfast in its commitments.

He pointed out that when the Congress came to power, 18 of the 23 cooperative banks in the state were almost on the verge of bankruptcy. However with the government helps, these banks were now thriving, he added.

This was because of the various reforms introduced by the government in the cooperative sector which helped to tone up the functioning of the banks, Mr Ramnarayana Reddy stated.
