The Engineering Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test committee Convenor on Thursday met Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal at the state Secretariat on Thursday and asked him to take steps to postpone the by-elections in Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly Constituencies as the EAMCET exam is also falling on May 8.
Earlier, the Election Commission of India had decided to conduct the by-polls for Kadapa Lok Sabha seat and Pulivendula Assembly seat on May 8.
The EAMCET competitive examination is also scheduled to be held on May 8.
Keeping in view the plight of the students who would be writing the test, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal was requested to prevail upon the Election Commission of India for postponement of the by-polls.
Reacting favourably to the appeal made by the EAMCET panel Convenor, the CEO has assured that he would bring it to the notice of the Election Commission the need to postpone the by-poll date.
