JLC evidence of government's transparency: Ponguleti

All India Congress Committee secretary Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Wednesday defended the state government’s government decision to constitute a Joint Legislative Committee by saying that the JLC would remove all doubts about the allotments of lands from 2004 after the opposition has alleged irregularities in the procedure.

Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party office, Mr Sudhakar Reddy stated with the appointment of JLC the Congress’ commitment to transparently in allocation of lands was evident. The “JLC appointment shows the Congress is against to corruption and is committed to punish anyone guilty of wrongdoing,” he stated.

Mr Sudhakar Reddy thanked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for appointing JLC.

Condemned Public Accounts Committee chairman Nagam Janardhan Reddy for making allegations against Congress, he said that the TDP leader has misused the post for gaining political mileage. “Mr Janardhan Reddy had used the PAC for gaining political mileage and did not make any suggestions for plugging loopholes in the projects,” he stated.

The AICC secretary said that allegations against Mr Janardhan Reddy have been leveled by Telugu Desam Party members themselves. “The TDP members have alleged that he (Mr Janardhan Reddy) had indulged in corruption with irrigation contractors,” Mr Sudhakar Reddy stated. He pointed out that the TDP leaders had demanded that their party chief N Chandrababu Naidu approach the government to get Mr Janardhan Reddy removed from the post of PAC chairman.

The senior Congress leader also expressed confidence that India would win the semi-final against Pakistan in the ICC World Cup.

He said that he had performed pujas at Bhadrachalam temple seeking blessings of Lord Srirama to help the Indian team.
