Condemning the ‘attack’ on Telugu Desam Party MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakhar by Agriculture Minister YS Vivekananda Reddy in the strongest terms, Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan on Monday demanded the Minister to tender an unconditional apology to the MLA and people of the state.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Dr Narayan stated the August body was witnessing charges and counter-charges daily, resulting in the wasting of precious public money.
He said that instead of congenial atmosphere to discuss the people’s problems, a war-like situation prevailed in the House.
Condemning the ‘rowdy-like’ behaviour of the Minister and other Congress Members, the LSP chief demanded that the Deputy Speaker suspend them from the House immediately and take steps to ensure that such incidents are not repeating in the future.
“These type of incidents irreparably damage the image of House and the Members among people. The people will lose confidence in the elected Members and their fait democracy would be shaken,” he opined.
Dr Narayan called upon Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu to make collective efforts to ensure that their party Members respect the House and obey the directions of Speaker.
“Both the ruling and opposition party Members should stop slinging mud on each other and work towards addressing the people’s problems,” the former IAS officer pointed out.
“The Speaker should take decision on the action against the Minister and the MLAs, setting aside his own political affiliations,” the LSP chief stated.
