Condemning the ‘attack’ by Agriculture Minister Ys Vivekananda Reddy on Telugu Desam Party MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar on the Floor of the House on Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party Floor Leader G Kishen Reddy described the incident as a ‘Black Day’ in the history of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Kishen Reddy charged both the Opposition TDP and ruling Congress party with disrespecting the House and disregarding democratic principles. “The Members are behaving like ‘goondas’ in the House to promote their own interests,” he stated.
Demanding Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to order a probe into entire issue, the BJP leader appealed to leaders of both the Congress and the TDP to introspect into their Members’ behavior in the House and take steps so that such incidents do not recur in the future.
He asked the Floor Leaders of all the parties to initiate stringent action against their Members if they are found guilty.
Mr Kishen Reddy also appealed to the Deputy Speaker not to release video clippings of the incident to the media as these would damage the image of House as well as the image of the Members who were elected by the people.
He appealed to both parties to put their party agenda aside and focus on discussing people’s problems in the House.
“Both the ruling and Opposition parties are projecting their party agenda and wasting precious time of the House without discussing the people’s problems since the past one month,” Mr Kishen Reddy alleged.
