The State Government is making efforts to compile data of all NRIs hailing from Andhra Pradesh and working in foreign countries and place this information on a web portal. In a written reply to questions raised by MLAs G Kamalakar, G Govardhan, Linga Reddy, Abdul Ghani, Praveen Kumar Reddy and Amaranatha Reddy, the Chief Minister said that the government was aware of the deaths of NRIs in foreign countries, particularly in Gulf countries.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is also sanctioning ex-gratia to the families of persons who hailed from Andhra Pradesh and died in while working abroad due to various reasons. This ex-gratia will be sanctioned to the families of NRIs killed abroad after obtaining recommendations from the Collector and district Magistrate of their concerned districts.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the State Government is providing assistance to the families of those who died in other countries for deportation of their mortal remains through Indian Embassies in the respective countries. He also said that the efforts are on to compile the data of all NRIs through registration at the Immigration counters in International Airports and the various Embassies. He said that this data will be uploaded on a dedicated web portal.
