Telugu Desam MLA from Banswada, Pocharam Srinivas, who had quit the party and joined hands with Telangana forces, on Thursday stated that he had voted as per his conscience in the Legislative Council elections. Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, the MLA stated that he had voted for those who are making sincere efforts towards formation of Telangana state. The MLA’s was earlier in the day brought to the Assembly to cast his vote from Banswada by TRS leaders Etala Rajender and KT Rama Rao in their personal car. The Telugu Desam Party had earlier on Thursday issued a Whip for the second time to all its MLAs directing them to compulsorily cast their vote for the TDP candidates in the Council elections. Mr Pocharam Srinivas had called upon the TDP leaders from Telangana to come out of party and join hands with those who are making collective efforts towards formation of Telangana state. He had alleged that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu would not fulfill the aspirations of Telangana people. Earlier on Thursday, two TDP MLAs—Nallapu Reddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy and Bala Nagi Reddy had refused to follow the Whip issued by TDP and had participated in the meeting of Congress MLAs supporting former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, held at the latter’s residence.
