Greeting all women on the Centennial Year of International Women’s Day, Telangana Congress MLA M Kavitha on Tuesday  thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her efforts to push for the passing of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Ms Kavitha appealed to Ms Sonia Gandhi to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of Telangana people by announcing a separate Telangana state.

The MLA said that Ms Sonia Gandhi stands by the statement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9, 2009 and speed up the process towards the Telangana state formation.

Pointing out that women from Telangana region were supporting the agitation and participating in the struggle wholeheartedly, Ms Kavitha said that this was in marked contrast as ‘integrationist’ efforts were limited to leaders from Seemandhra regions where the women have not expressed any desire to join the ‘unification’ efforts.

“The participation of women in the Telangana agitation indicates the intense desire of the people for the formation of Telangana,” she pointed out.

Another Congress MLA Rajanna stated that the party MLAs would a launch a protest in front of Gandhi statue in the Assembly on Wednesday in support of MPs agitation in New Delhi for introduction of a Telangana Bill in Parliament.
