Alleging that the Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party were utilizing the Telangana statehood for their political survival, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said that these parties were neglecting the Telugu people’s real issues.
Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party office, Mr Naidu said that these parties were only concentrating on building up their image and were not bothered about the welfare of the people.
The former chief minister also alleged that the TDP workers were being targeted by the activists of other parties when they ventured out among the people to create awareness about the Telangana issue in the region’s districts.
“I do not understand why our people are being targeted by the activists of other parties, especially when they are working to create awareness on Telangana state issue. We are also working for Telangana state and this has been mentioned in our party manifesto,” the TDP chief stated.
He alleged that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao and former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy have colluded to target the TDP activists.
Condemning the attack on the TDP activists, Mr Naidu said this was ‘not good, unfair and unfortunate’.
Calling on his party activists to remain undaunted by the attack, he exhorted TDP MLAs, MPs and other leaders to continue their ‘good work’ and address the people’s problems. Mr Naidu also asked them to address local issues by themselves, and continue to serve the people. He asked the party leaders to respect the sentiments of regional people and address problems locally.
The former chief minister also blamed the ruling Congress party for the ‘total’ failure of the law and order in the state and held it responsible for the events which have rocked the Telangana region.
Mr Naidu also accused the United Progressive Alliance government of dragging the Telangana issue. He said that the issue should have been addressed on priority basis, especially after the submission of the Justice Srikrishna Committee Report.
The TDP chief also criticized the state government for passing the Motion thanking Governor ESL Narasimhan for his Address, without discussing it in detail and without taking the views of Opposition parties.
Mr Naidu also condemned the attack on Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan allegedly by TRS activists on Thursday on Assembly premises.
