Joint Political Action Committee (JAC) on Friday called for a three-day Telangana bandh call from February 22 to press the Centre to table a separate statehood Bill in the Budget Session of Parliament.
Talking to media persons after participating in a protest by the employees of the Director of Agriculture Office, TPJAC convenor Kondandaram announced that the pro-Telangana activists would bring the transport systems, including trains, buses and other government activities to a grinding halt from February 22 onwards for three days across the Telangana region.
“We want the Telangana formation Bill to be tabled in the forthcoming Budget Session of Parliament. If the government does not accept our demand, then we will be forced to bring the rail and bus services to a halt and also obstruct other activities of the government offices across Telangana from February 22,’’ he declared.
Beside this, former Haj Committee chairman Raheemullah Khan Nayazi told the protesting employees of the Director of Agriculture that efforts were on to build consensus among all the Legislators from the region to resign en masse. He said that if all the Legislators resign en masse, the Centre would be pressurized to the extent that it would give in to the separate statehood demand.
“We appeal to all the Legislators from the region to join hands with us to strengthen the movement and for exerting pressure on the Centre to table the separate statehood Bill in Parliament,’’ Nayazi stated.
