Expressing shock to a report that appeared in media on Friday where the parents of a 16-year-old Anusha were killed by a milk vendor on Thursday, Sabita Indra Reddy, the home minister said that the Government would promulgate an ordinance to provide harsh punishment to perpetrators of violence. Anusha who is studying intermediate is still recovering in the hospital. The minister instructed the officials concerned to prepare the Ordinance which will provide severe punishment to the culprits who play with the lives of innocent people.
Referring to the conduct and behaviour of the students in educational institutions, she called on the parents to instruct their children not to be involved in social evils like the ragging and eve-teasing. The home minister regretted that the Government was not in a position to introduce the bill bringing curbs on attacking of women, and eve-teasing because of lack of time during the last assembly sessions.
The Government will take care of Anusha’s education, Sabita said and added the East Godavari District Collector had already been instructed to sanction a house for the girl under the INDIRAMMA programme.
