Possible PRP merger with harm Congress chance in T: MLA

Medchal Congress Mla K Laxma Reddy on Sunday stated the Congress will suffer major electoral and image damages in the Telangana region if the Praja Rajyam Party merges with the Congress.

Talking to media persons, the MLA said the possible merger of PRP with Congress will not be beneficial to either of the two parties in Telangana region. However, he said, the possible merger of PRP will brighten the Congress chances Seemandhra regions since the smaller party stood for the state remaining integrated.

Mr Laxma Reddy hoped the Congress High Command would take a favourable decision on the Telangana statehood issue and introduce a Telangana Bill in the Budget Session of Parliament.

If the Congress fails to introduce the separate statehood Bill in Parliament, the party will be wiped out completely in the Telangana region.

He said the state may face serious disturbances after February 17 if the government makes no concrete assurance on the Telangana Bill.
