Former minister and senior Congress leader from Rayalaseema Jc Diwakar Reddy on Thursday stated that he doubted whether Kadapa leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy will be able to bring back the ‘golden era’ of the state witnessed during the rule of his father and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Talking to media persons on Assembly premises, Mr Diwakar Reddy said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s statement that he would usher in a ‘golden period’ in the state’s history by implementing his father’s schemes and programmes in letter and spirit will have to stand the test of time.

Mr Diwakar Reddy said that present Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is working hard to implement the schemes initiated by Dr Rajasekhara Reddy, despite the many obstacles, and he doubted if Mr Jaganmohan Reddy can better this performance.

Referring to the alliance between the Congress and the Praja Rajyam Party, he said that PRP president K Chiranjeevi will have to clarify his stand whether to join the government or merge his party with Congress before meeting the Ms Sonia Gandhi.

“The High Command will decide on alliance with the Praja Rajyam Party after taking into consideration all the factors in the state,” Mr Diwakar Reddy stated.

He also opined that the Congress base in the Seemandhra regions will be strengthened with the joining of Mr Chiranjeevi, who stands for an integrated Andhra Pradesh.
