Hyderabad, Sept 16 :
The Chief Minister, K.Rosaiah, on Wednesday agreed to the proposal to regularize the encroachments of eligible BPL people for 80 sq. yards, particularly in the slum areas with ration cards as proof if they satisfy other terms and conditions like genuine occupancy of the area. This will help many a poor and low income families to own a dwelling in the city and Ranga Reddy district. He held a review meeting on regularization of Government lands under G.O.Ms. No. 166 with minister and officials at Secretariat.
The Government have introduced the scheme of transfer of rights on certain occupations/encroachments of specified categories of unassigned Government lands in the State by way of structures or otherwise on payment basis in G.O.M.s No.166 dated 16.2.2008. Certain guidelines were framed for regularising the eligible encroachments on production of prescribed documents. The Collectors have regularized the proposals up to 80 sq. yards on free of cost to the eligible poor. The majority of the applications were received in Districts of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy.
During the process of verification, it is identified that many a number of applications were rejected due to non-production of prescribed documents within the cut off date i.e. on or before 31-12-2003. In spite of publicity, a number of eligible encroachers could not apply for regularization. Total number of applications received in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy Districts are 1,19,726 and Number of applications rejected in these two districts are 1,03,072. There is a proposal for considering the below poverty line people’s applications (80 sq. yds) and the white ration cards issued in 2006 can be taken as primary documentary evidence since the Government has issued new ration cards in 2006. Revenue Minister D. Prasada Rao, CCLA Mr S V Prasad, Collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy Districts and other officials attended the meeting.
