Senior Telugu Desam Party leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Thursday was adopting the ‘carrot-and-stick’ policy with its leaders from Telangana by threatening them with the specter of President’s Rule, while promising them the fulfillment of their dream of separate state.
Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, the senior TDP leader said the Congress High Command has resorted to this “carrot and stick” approach after being unable to control its Telangana leaders, who have stepped up their threats to resign to their elected posts in case the Telangana Bill was not introduced in Parliament.
Mr Ramakrishnudu stated that the TDP is however against the imposition of President Rule in the state.
He said the TDP wants an efficient government which can address the problems of all people, particularly farmers, who are in dire state due to indifferent attitude of Congress government.
The senior TDP leader said the Congress in the state was facing massive political crisis due to rebel MLAs, who are openly extending support to former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, violating their own party’s diktat.
“In order to come out of political crisis, both Centre and state governments are working overtime to save the government,” he pointed out.
Condemning the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia’s statement that government achieving progress with rising inflation, Mr Ramakrishnudu said the common people are not in a position to buy the essential commodities due to the steep prices and undergoing a lot of burdens.
He demanded that the Centre and state government make efforts for reducing prices of essential commodities.
