Accusing Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu of failing to honour his word and support the separate Telangana statehood movement, senior party leader and Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday said that he has decided to part ways with the TDP.

Talking to media persons, the three time MLA who had also served as a Minister during Mr Naidu tenure, likened the Telangana people’s fight for a separate state issue to the movement launched by TDP founder-president NT Rama Rao to fight for Telugu pride. Mr Pocharam Srinivas apprehended that as long as Mr Naidu was at its helm, the TDP would fight for only to address the people’s problems but would not take to fulfilling the aspirations of Telangana people.

Giving a clear indication of where he was headed, Mr Srinivas said that though the Congress would stand by the promise of giving Telangana state, the desire and aspirations of the people will be fulfilled by Telangana Rashtra Samithi only. He said that he would send his resignation letter to party president in one or two days and join Telangana Rashtra Samithi soon.

Meanwhile, another Telugu Desam MLA from Choppadandi,  Suddala Devaiah and Jukkal MLA Hanumanth Shinde are reported to have had a rethink on their plans of joining the TRS. According to sources, the two would stay back in the TDP and fight for the cause of Telangana.
