Is the centre trying to sidetrack the Telangana issue?
With the centre keen on favouring a second States Reorganisation Committee and the Srikrishna Panel Report yet to be made public, the Telangana issue may get a loopline again.
According to reports reaching here, the 'report' is unlikely to hit the headlines for obvious reasons.
Reports from New Delhi confirm that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday evinced interest in knowing matters related to Telangana.
Exactly at a time when the report is to be tabled on December 31, the mention of a second SRC at Prime Minister's level assumes importance.
As per the terms, the Centre directed the 'Committee' to study the pulse and ground realities in Andhra Pradesh with specific reference to a separate Telangana and to study the status quo demand as well.
The Panel was also asked to identify key issues that must be addressed by interacting with political parties and review the development in all the three regions of the state since November 1, 1956.
The Committee was expected to elicit opinions and solutions from political parties that could resolve the current situation to promote the people's welfare.
