The Telangana Congress Mps on Wednesday morning called on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his Camp Office and thanked him for lifting all police cases against students and agitators, who took part in the separate statehood agitation.
Talking to media persons, the MPs said that they met the Chief Minister only to thank him for taking a favourable decision on long pending demand of lifting police cases against students.
“This is only a courtesy call to thank him for lifting police cases and there is not much importance to the meeting,” the MPs said.
They said the `generous act’ of the state government would help the students immensely and they can continue their educational career without obstructions.
The MPs delegation consists of Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, Gutta Sukender Reddy and Manda Jagannatham.
Mr Ponnam Prabhakar urged the Chief Minister to withdraw the Central Paramilitary Forces from the state since he said that there was no threat perception of violation of peace after the submission of Srikrishna Committee Report to the Centre.
Nine MPs from the Telangana region had began their fast on Monday demanding lifting of police cases against students. Bowing to the pressure of MPs, the state government took a decision of lifting all 1,665 cases involving 8,047 students.
