Govt warns students: cases

The State Government has issued an indirect warning to all concerned that the government would not tolerate any strike from the students' community particularly after the cases were lifted.

Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy played a key role as a spokesman of the government in the recent past in striking a deal for withdrawing all the cases framed against students who were involved in the pro and anti Telangana agitation.

While asserting that the government cannot be underestimated, Mr Jana Reddy made it clear referring to the students that they cannot take law into their hands. It would be time consuming for lifting all the cases in stages, so the government cannot be blamed for the delay, he pointed out.

Lifting the cases against the students involved did not mean that the government adopted a lenient view, Mr Jana Reddy said. The government did act merely keeping the interests and future of the students in mind, he asserted.

Referring to the deployment of forces, the Minister underscored the need to keep the forces in readiness to meet any eventuality in view of the threat perception from the terrorists.

“The government has the responsibility to maintain law and order to protect the interests of the people and so the deployment of forces was necessary,” justified the Minister.

Without referring to the Srikrishna Panel Report and its fallout later, Mr Jana Reddy gave an impression that the Central forces would be kept ready in the Cantonment Area.

As and when there was requirement, the Forces would be utilised if trouble broke out in any other part of the state.
