The Congress party won the Tekkali Assembly constituency due to double sympathy wave only, stated Opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
Talking to media persons after paying tributes to Burgula Krishna Rao statue at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation premises on his 42nd birthday, the Opposition leader said that the Congress party won the Tekkali by-elections due to double sympathy wave prevailed in the constituency.
The Congress party is riding on double sympathy wave of late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and death of Bharati’s husband K Revatipathi, who died of cardiac arrest on June 2, a day before he was to take oath as legislator in the assembly, Naidu stated.
However, Naidu said the TDP has given a tough contest for the ruling Congress party in the elections. He said that compared to last elections, the TDP percentage of votes in this election has increased a lot.
