Former minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose on Saturday condemned the scathing attack against former Government Advisor and MP KVP Ramachandra Rao by staunch YS Jaganmohan Reddy loyalist Konda Surekha on Friday.
Terming the attack as ‘disturbing’, Mr Bose said that KVP had never been accused of any irregularity while former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy was in power. He also said that KVP’s family had close relations with the YSR family for decades.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member V Hanumantha Rao demanded that KVP issue a clarification on the allegations made by Ms Surekha.
Mr Hanumantha Rao added that Ms Surekha, a former minister, might have made the allegations after former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy and KVP have developed some differences due to some ‘financial dealings’. He however did not elaborate what these ‘financial dealings’ were.
Ms Surekha had on Friday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the properties owned by KVP and said that such a probe reveal the extent of wealth accumulated by him before and after YSR had become chief minister.
She had also alleged that KVP and Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah had jointly looted the state through the ‘Jalayagnam’ Irrigation projects by taking commission from the contractors.
The strong YSR family loyalist had also described KVP as a broker and backstabber of the YSR family.
The former minister had also alleged that KVP had collected the signatures of 150 MLAs on a petition asking that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy be made chief minister. Ms Surekha added that because of his conspiracy, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy became the target of the Congress High Command’s wrath.
Mr Jaganmohan Reddy fell from the grace of the Congress High Command due to KVP’s machinations, she had pointed out.
The former minister had added that KVP then turned his attention on YS Vivekananda Reddy, YSR’s brother and used him as pawn in the High Command hands to split the YSR family.
