In line with the thinking of Kiran Kumar Reddy government, Minister for Minor Irrigation T G Venkatesh has signed the files belonging to the three regions in the state. The Minister has sanctioned works for APSIDC, lift irrigation, Walamtari and GWD.
The Minister signed files for remodelling the Feeder Channel on Seshelati Vagu near Kastala village, Chandur mandal in Nalgonda district, renovation of Peda Brahmadevam Lift Irrigation Scheme on Samalkot Canal in East Godavari district, Diversion Channel in Chittoor district and restoration of pick up anicuts and percolation tanks in Chitvel mandal of Kadapa district.
The Minister is understood to have been inspired by the welfare motive of the past kings, who were instrumental in digging the tanks and small reservoirs for storing the water. Those tanks served as an all time purpose for drinking and irrigation.
Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Saturday, Mr Venkatesh stated that there was no dearth of funds, and added that he would undertake all these projects through the tender system and do justice to all the three regions without giving room for any misunderstanding.
He also categorically stated that some vested interests were occupying some tanks and he would see to it that it would not continue in the interest of the people.
Asked about his involvement a Forum fighting for rights for Rayalaseema people, he replied that it was not a political party.
