The Congress High Command has not hatched any conspiracy to divide the former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s family, his brother and MLC YS Vivekananda Reddy stated on Tuesday.

Talking to media persons at Press Club in Kadapa on Tuesday after meeting the former chief minister’s YSR family members, Mr Vivekananda Reddy condemned the remarks of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who alleged in his resignation letter sent to Lok Sabha Speaker that the High Command had insulted and embarrassed him and hatched a plan split the family.

YSV categorically stated that the Congress High Command did not lure him with a Cabinet berth.

“The decision to go to Delhi and express my desire to become a Minister was my own. I went to Delhi to discuss this with the party High Command,” the MLC stated.

“If the YSR family thinks that my aspiring for a Ministerial berth is wrong, then I apologise to them,” he stated.

“I do not know whether (Chief Minister) Kiran Kumar Reddy will accommodate me in his Cabinet. If he gives me a Cabinet berth, I will be a loyal worker and serve to protect the interests of party,” he added.

The former chief minister’s brother added that, “There is no truth in the letter written by Jagan and all allegations against the High Command are baseless and far from truth.”

He said AICC president Ms Sonia had assured that former Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy would be given a prominent post in the party. But Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had chosen to resign before this could happen, he hinted.

“In my meeting with the family members, I asked them to be loyal to the High Command and Congress party and follow the footsteps of YSR,” he revealed.

“If the High Command directs me to contest from Pulivendula Assembly constituency in the by-lection, I will do so,” he said and added, “I will continue to be a loyal activist of Congress party till my last breath.”
