Citing ill health and exigencies of work, Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday submitted his resignation to Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan.
Though Mr Rosaiah cited health problems as the reason for his decision to step down, highly placed sources say that the decision was made for him by the High Command in the light of the growing dissatisfaction in the party cadre.
Sources say that the High Command did not take lightly to the manner in which Mr Rosaiah tackled the increasing dissension among the lower-rung party cadre, who had started to raise slogans against him at almost every possible opportunity.
Some of the protests, due to the absence of the portraits of his predecessor YS Rajasekhara Reddy at government meetings, had become a regular feature in his public meetings.
Mr Rosaiah spent 447 days as Chief Minister of the state, and he is largely credited with handling the volatile political situation which had arisen in the aftermath of YSR&rsquo;s untimely death.
According to source, Assembly Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy will succeed Mr Rosaiah in the hot seat, but other contenders to the throne like Information and Public Relations Minister J Geetha Reddy and Union Minister Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy are also considered as favourites.
Meanwhile, Senior Congress leaders Pranab Mukherjee, Ahmed Patel and Veerappa Moily are visiting the Hyderabad to deal with the situation.

Director Ramana Reddy Soma got the optimum output from the cast and crew, and Hari Munnangi, Sasidhar Kocharlakota, and Manoj came up with spirited performances.The story is simple, but Ramana Reddy, with his screenplay, turned the film into an entertaining one blending humour, emotions, and Deccani dialogues in an effective way. However, predictability crept in with the passage of time, and the unidimensional screenplay hampered the proceedings. The rushed climax did not add much value to the ending. A little fine-tuning of the script and inclusion of a few more twists and turns would have added more power to the final impact. The first half sails off smoothly with the typical introduction of the protagonist in a commercial mass manner and carries it in the same manner. However, in between, he loses steam, but still, the first half ends on a decent note, setting the tone for the second half.He continues in the same manner in the second half but adds a few more intense emotional elements. A couple of twists generate interest, surprising all. The twists come as a surprise in a rather predictable story, and the flat narration, especially in the second half. However, once the twists are unraveled, there is nothing much in the story to take it forward. The climax ends on an emotional note.GV. Prakash Kumar elevated the scenes with his background music. His background score added impact to the emotional scenes. His music and tunes for the songs already became the chartbusters. While one song is emotional, the other two songs are foot-tapping. His background music is in sync with the story. Vinod Bangari's cinematography is quite good. He showed the rural atmosphere in Telangana in a natural and realistic manner. The Ravi , Swetha love track and the father-daughter marriage episodes ends up testing the patience of the viewers.The court drama and the land dispute in the second half is shown in an illogical and silly manner. The point as to why son is hating his father is not shown in an elaborate manner and the father son bonding is not elevated properly except in the climax.A more racy screenplay, more intense and entertaining script would have added value to the narration. Many expected things to change after Vishal who was seen as a honest and innocent medical representive gets trageted. But nothing of that sorts happen and the entry of other Vishal character is expected to change the proceedings at least in the second half. However, the narration nosedives in the second half to a new low. The scenes featuring Vishal, Dushara Vijayan lack the emotional connect and looks mundane and the so called comedy with Thambi Ramaiah doesn't work.Things doesn't change in the second half and the so called flashback episode which is expected to take the film to next level is dragged to the core testing the patience of the viewers. The chemistry between Vishal and Anjali looked odd on screen and to the irritation of viewers, the pre climax and climax is dragged to the next level leaving people wonder when the film will end. Many will be under the impression that the makers included these scenes to attract genex viewers and then wash off their hands with a message in the climax. A little finetuning of the script, and attention to the second half would have added more power to the final output.
