Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi president Manda Krishna Madiga on Thursday demanded the Central government expedite action on report on categorisation of the Scheduled Castes in Andhra Pradesh.
The report, Mr Krishna Madiga stated, has been pending with it for the past few years.
Talking to media persons, Mr Krishna Madiga appealed to Chief Minister K Rosaiah to take an all-party delegation to New Delhi to and urge Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to act over the issue.
He also urged Mr Rosaiah to urge the Centre to introduce the Constitution Amendment Bill in the winter session of Parliament itself.
Mr Krishna Madiga said the report of the Usha Mehra Commission on the categorisation of the Scheduled Castes of Andhra Pradesh into A, B, C, D, groups was sent to the Union Cabinet by the then Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar and it has been pending with the Cabinet.
He said the classification would enable a large number of the Scheduled Castes to get their due share of reservation.
Demanding classification of scheduled castes, Mr Krishna Madiga warned that the Porata Samithi would intensify its agitation in the state and obstruct Chief Minister’s convoy whenever it can.
He said the Porata Samithi would organise a massive convention at Nizam College Grounds in the city on December 4 to create awareness on the issue among people.
